DIY Drain Clogs: Best Methods You Need to Know

If you are having a hard time fixing your clogged drains at home, there are some steps that you can do by yourself to stop all these inconveniences.

First method is called the hot water technique. For clogs in the center of a drain opening, you can clear the debris by pouring hot water down the opening. While boiling a pot of water, remove as much standing water from the tub as you can. Then, pour the entire pot of water into the tub and wait.

Second method is by the use of a plunger. What you need to do is fill your tub or sink with a bit of water, then place the plunger over the drain opening, making sure the rubber lip is flush with the surface.

Use a quick up-and-down motion to create pressure and suction to dislodge the clog in the pipe. Once the clog is cleared, water will run freely down the drain and through the pipes. Stubborn clogs may need to be plunged several more times.
